Terms of use
These terms apply to the use of the FridgeLoop app for iPhone, including its Home Screen widget. Please read them before you create an account.
1. Provider and scope
FridgeLoop is provided by Dennis Donner, Eduard-v-Winterstein-Straße 11, 14480 Potsdam, Germany (“I”). These terms govern the relationship between you and me when you use the app. How I process personal data is explained in the privacy policy.
2. What FridgeLoop does
FridgeLoop helps you keep track of the food you have at home: you store items with their expiry dates, add them by barcode or receipt scan, get reminders before they expire, receive recipe suggestions based on what you have, keep a shopping list and see your own statistics. The features available may change as the app develops.
3. Your account
You need an account with a valid email address to use FridgeLoop. Keep your password secret and tell me if you suspect that someone else is using your account. You are responsible for the content you store in the app. You must be at least 16 years old to create an account.
4. Expiry dates, recipes and AI recognition are aids
Always check your food yourself. FridgeLoop does not check whether food is safe to eat.
- Expiry dates and reminders are based on the dates you enter or confirm. A best-before date is not a use-by date: food past its best-before date is often still fine, while food past its use-by date (for example fresh meat or fish) should not be eaten. Look, smell and, where appropriate, taste before you eat something, and follow the instructions on the packaging.
- Receipt scan and barcode scan can misread or miss items. The expiry dates suggested after a receipt scan are estimates generated by an AI model, not information from the manufacturer. Review every entry before you save it.
- Recipe suggestions are generated by an AI model. They may contain mistakes, unsuitable combinations or wrong quantities and cooking times. They do not take allergies, intolerances, diets or medical needs into account. Check every ingredient yourself, cook meat, poultry, fish and eggs thoroughly, and do not rely on the app for allergen information.
I am not liable for illness or other damage caused by spoiled or unsuitable food or by following a recipe suggestion, unless the liability rules in section 9 provide otherwise.
5. Fair use
Use FridgeLoop only for its intended purpose. In particular, do not try to access other users’ data, interfere with the app or its servers, automate requests in bulk, or upload content you have no right to use (for example receipts of other people).
6. Availability and sync
Syncing, receipt scan, barcode lookup and recipe suggestions need an internet connection and depend on external services. I work to keep FridgeLoop available, but I cannot guarantee uninterrupted operation. Maintenance, technical faults or outages at my service providers can temporarily limit features. I may develop, change or discontinue features, taking your legitimate interests into account.
7. In-app purchases
Some features can be unlocked through in-app purchases. In-app purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store; Apple’s terms apply to the purchase and payment. The current conditions are shown in the app and by Apple before you buy. Recurring purchases can be managed and cancelled in your Apple ID settings. Refund requests are handled by Apple.
8. Apple
These terms are concluded between you and me, not with Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content and has no obligation to provide support or maintenance for it. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you. When you use the app, you must also comply with the App Store terms of use.
9. Liability
I am liable without limitation for damage caused intentionally or through gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, under the German Product Liability Act and to the extent I have given a guarantee.
In cases of slight negligence, I am only liable for breaches of essential contractual obligations, i.e. obligations whose fulfilment makes proper use of the app possible in the first place and on whose fulfilment you may regularly rely. In that case liability is limited to the typical damage foreseeable at the time the contract was concluded.
Otherwise, liability for slight negligence is excluded. These limitations also apply to the personal liability of my representatives and agents.
10. Ending the use and deleting your account
You can stop using FridgeLoop at any time. You delete your account in the app under You → Settings → Delete account, or by sending an email to app-support@donner.io. Deleting the app alone does not delete your account. Deleting your account does not cancel recurring in-app purchases; manage those in your Apple ID settings.
I may block or delete an account for good cause, in particular for serious or repeated breaches of these terms. Where reasonable, I will warn you first.
11. Changes to these terms
I may change these terms if there is a valid reason, for example new features, changes in the law or court decisions. I will inform you of changes in good time before they take effect, in the app or by email. If you do not agree with a change, you can stop using the app and delete your account. Changes that significantly affect the balance between your rights and obligations and mine require your consent.
12. Governing law and disputes
German law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you are a consumer, this choice of law does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory provisions of the law of the country in which you have your habitual residence.
I am neither obliged nor willing to participate in dispute-resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.
Should any provision of these terms be invalid, the remaining provisions remain in effect.
